It has been three years since the devastating earthquake of 2010 and according to the Huffington Post an estimated 5.9 billion dollars in aid have been spent to help those affected. Unfortunately, little progress has been made or can be seen and this has left many Haitian's feeling hopeless and forgotten. It seems as though every time progress is made another storm devastates what little infrastructure was established.
The task at hand seems hopeless but as people of God we remember His great power and His unchanging character. We remember how in the Old Testament He used a man named Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in record time. And we remember how He brought these people (the Israelites) from ruin and despair to a new walk with Him. God longs to draw people to himself and to restore their hopelessness with hope, faith, and relationship with Him.
Just like Nehemiah, we want our ministry to support the physical needs of the Haitian people but we also want it to be used to help the Haitian people walk into a new relationship with God the Father. We long for our ministry to draw people out of hopelessness and restore them to hope in Christ their Savior.
So we continue to pray night and day for the salvation of the Lord to come to all people in Haiti. And we are confident that the Lord not only hears our cry for help but also the millions who are still feeling the wounds of that awful day.
"But in their distress they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him." 2 Chronicles 15:4
Jesus is the only answer to Haiti's problems and we must continue to look to Him for renewal and restoration for all things! Just as His word says, when we look to Him He will let us find Him.
